EMMA JANE WILSON HND TQFE PDCH ACTM

A snap shot so far:

I have over thirty years experience in the health and wellbeing industry. Completing my HND in beauty therapy in 1994, I started to build my business renting space in a popular hair salon in Glasgow's west end. in 1996 I went on to open  a successful beauty salon in Jordanhill Glasgow with a friend and fellow beauty therapist. my carer took a change of direction in 2004 when I was offered a teaching position at Central college in Glasgow where during my time  I completed my teaching qualifications  in further education. initially I started teaching beauty therapy as the college progressed I moved to the complementary therapy section where I felt more at home. as part of my job I helped to develop new courses and subjects. 2017 my career took another direction going back into industry. I completed my Practitioners Diploma in Clinical Hypnotherapy and Stress Management, I wanted to go back to working with clients and being a therapist again which I really missed during my teaching years, in some ways I was going back to grass routes, setting up a self employed business working from home and in a holistic centre near Drymen which I must say was a very happy time. Having more free time, I decided to apply for volunteering hours with MarieCurie at Stobhill. I worked with patients in a medical setting, offering a tuck in service in the evenings for complementary treatments which I continued until Covid lock down when we had to step down as volunteers.  Covid made me think about what I really loved and missed in my career and life in general. I didn't enjoy living in Glasgow anymore, I missed working, I had always wanted to further my qualification even more... there is always so much more to learn and to stay abreast of what's happening. which takes us to the present; I sold up in Glasgow and moved back to Islay, I also embarked on eduction again and applied to study again... I have completed and passed the first year of my BTEC in advanced clinical massage and looking forward to the next 2 years; not so much for the academic QUEDOS  but for the continued learning and helping to raise the standards in industry. `I have always felt it is important  to stay abreast of current trends and progress in  industry, I love updating and increasing my skills whenever possible. My passion is to inspire people in their own potential whether that be physically, mentally or spiritually and hopefully all three. I love what I do whether it is  helping to improve your skin and general appearance, your energy levels, your stress levels, your general wellbeing or just your personal grooming regime. To me it's  all important....I live it and love it.
